Jamie Carragher says Tottenham need a big signing.

Tottenham Hotspur’s poor start to the season is a big talking point because there is no obvious reason why it isn’t clicking into gear.
Jamie Carragher waded into the debate on Sky Sports’ Monday Night football, joined by Patrice Evra.
Carragher said he believes Tottenham need to copy Liverpool and make a big signing of the ilk of Virgil van Dijk and Alisson.
He told Sky Sports, reported by The Mail: “You have to point fingers at the chairman.
“That team has been the same, it needs freshening enough.
“They’re close but not quite. They need a Van Dijk/Alisson moment. They just never got that superstar so they could actually win something.”
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has certainly made mistakes in the past, but he did pay up in the transfer market this summer.

He sanctioned a £65 million club record move for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
Carragher did not mention the Frenchman, but this in itself perhaps highlights how the midfielder has been unable so far to take Spurs forward.
He has certainly had his moments, and also suffered with injury. There is plenty of time for him to come good.
The second big signing Spurs made was Giovani Lo Celso, he has barely played due to injury, but it set to return.
Investment this past summer was not the problem for Spurs. Of course more could have been done, and you can rarely have too many big signings, but a bit of patience is needed.
