Jamie Carragher has claimed in the Telegraph that Jamie Vardy was absolutely right to reject a move to Arsenal.
Vardy turned down Arsenal in 2016, to pen a new Leicester City contract, in what was a controversial decision at the time.
Vardy was criticised by many for not showing much ambition, but the Foxes have outperformed Arsenal in recent years.
And Carragher thinks that Vardy made the right choice by staying at the King Power Stadium.
“He could have gone to Arsenal when Arsene Wenger’s side were always in the top four,” Carragher said.
“People said he lacked ambition when he turned them down. He made a wise decision, cementing his legendary status at the King Power Stadium and avoiding being part of Arsenal’s post-Wenger struggles.”
Arsenal fans may now be thinking of what might have been, if Vardy had signed for them.

The England international is still performing strongly, with his boundless energy causing defences plenty of problems.
Vardy is now 34, but still remains a highly potent goal threat and has outscored any player in Arsenal’s current squad this season – with 11 Premier League goals to his name.
As things stand Vardy’s Leicester side sit in third place, while Arsenal occupy 11th spot.
