Jamie Carragher has said on Sky Sports Premier League (9:21pm, May 13, 2021) that Roberto Firmino was back to his best for Liverpool in the match against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The former Liverpool defender has also said that right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was the best player on the pitch against the Red Devils.
Brazilian forward Firmino scored twice, and England international right-back Alexander-Arnold provided an assist, as Jurgen Klopp’s side won 4-2 to maintain their chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
Carragher said on Sky Sports Premier League (9:21pm, May 13, 2021): “That man again, Trent, he has been the best player on the pitch. It was a bad ball from Fred, and it was, but that man read it. He has been back to his best as well, Firmino.”
Firmino has not been at his best this season and has struggled to score goals regularly this season.
However, the Brazil international was brilliant against the Red Devils and scored two important goals.
According to WhoScored, Firmino took three shots and two were on target, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 73.5%, won one header, took 52 touches, attempted one dribble, made one interception and one clearance, and put in one cross.
Alexander-Arnold was left out of the last England squad, but he showed at Old Trafford that he deserves a pace in the team for the European Championship this summer.
The right-back was brilliant going on the attack and defensively.
Alexander-Arnold provided some brilliant crosses and looked very creative indeed.
The right-back took four shots and two were on target, played five key passes, had a pass accuracy of 66.7%, took 86 touches, made one tackle, two interceptions and three clearances, and put in five crosses, according to WhoScored.
