Jamie Carragher felt that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain did not do what he was asked when he came on for Liverpool against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday evening, as per his comments live on Sky Sports.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was introduced as a late substitute for Liverpool in their game against the Baggies, but he did not have the desired impact.
The England international was brought on almost immediately after West Brom scored their equaliser.
But instead of inspiring Liverpool forward, Carragher felt that he showed signs of rustiness in his display.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was caught in possession a couple of times, with his passing range off.
And Carragher said: “Liverpool have brought Oxlade-Chamberlain on to really drive them forward, but there is three or four times where he’s just killed the attack, or stopped it, and set up West Brom to counter attack really.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s lack of sharpness is understandable, as he has spent so long out injured.
But Jurgen Klopp would likely have been hoping to see more from the 27-year-old, who could have an important role to play in the coming weeks.
Liverpool have a busy schedule coming up, and Oxlade-Chamberlain may well find his way back into the starting line-up sooner rather than later at Anfield.
Liverpool are next in action tomorrow, when they take on Newcastle United, and it would not be a surprise of Klopp did include Oxlade-Chamberlain from the off.
