Speaking to Optus Sports, Jamie Carragher has been speaking about Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool.
The Egyptian winger is arguably the best player in the world right now, and with his contract entering its final 18 months, there has understandably been a lot of speculation about his future.
Liverpool are apparently very keen to keep hold of their star man, but Salah has made no secret of his desire to play in Spain one day.
While the winger may eventually look to try his hand elsewhere, Carragher believes he’d be mad to leave Liverpool as the club and the manager have been brilliant for him.
What’s been said?
Carragher gave his view on Salah’s situation.
“Yeah, every club would love to have Mo Salah, but taking someone at the age of 32 and giving them a massive contract, when a lot of these teams will have an Mbappe or a Haaland, the younger generation coming through. I think it’d be mad for Liverpool to let him go, but I think it would be mad for Mo Salah to leave Liverpool, because I think this club and Jurgen Klopp have been great for him as well,” Carragher said.

Made him what he is
Carragher is absolutely right about Salah, Liverpool gave him the platform to become the player he is today, and he may not fare as well at another club under a different manager.
Yes, Salah is undoubtedly world class now, but let’s not forget, before he arrived at Anfield, he was no more than a Chelsea reject who was performing well in Serie A.
At Liverpool he’s become a superstar, and the best place for him to continue is on Merseyside.
