Jamie Carragher has stated that Mikel Arteta is ‘not at the level’ of Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, as he told the Overlap about the Arsenal manager.
On the last day of the Premier League season, Spurs secured Champions League football ahead of their London rivals.
Even though Arsenal were in command to secure fourth on a number of occasions, they shot themselves in the foot, including getting beat in the north London derby.
All in all, it has raised the question about what type of job Arteta is doing at the Emirates.
Carragher shared that he wanted the Gunners to get top four and he thinks the former midfielder is actually doing a ‘really good job’ despite missing out on a return to the Champions League.
“I wanted Arsenal to get top four because I like what Mikel Arteta has done,” said Carragher.
“I actually think Mikel Arteta’s done a really good job. I really do believe that. I love the young players that they have got. When you are talking about going forward and you can build from that, I get that.
“But Mikel Arteta right now, even though he has done a good job, he’s not at the level of a Conte, Tuchel, Klopp or Pep Guardiola.
“I think that opportunity in that game at Newcastle is a game that Arsenal fans look back on and think ‘that’s where it went wrong for Mikel Arteta’.”

The issue for Arsenal is that if they lost out to fourth to Manchester United, then there would have been more of an acceptance.
Man United have spent more money on their players than those from the capital.
Added with that fact that they were also expected to challenge for the Premier League title before a ball was kicked.
But, those from Old Trafford endured their worst season in Premier League history, so that door opening should have been taken by Arsenal and not their neighbours.
Either way, it puts huge pressure on the man in the Emirates dugout next season because fans will be less patient with the £96k-a-week man.
