Jamie Carragher has praised Arsenal central defender William Saliba on Sky Sports Football (9:25pm, August 5, 2022) for his performance against Crystal Palace.
The former Liverpool defender was impressed by what he saw from Saliba on his Premier League debut for Arsenal against Palace in the London derby at Selhurst Park this evening.
The 21-year-old started for Arsenal in the Premier League match against Palace.
Carragher was on co-commentary duty for the match on Sky Sports.

The pundit said about Saliba on Sky Sports Football (9:25pm, August 5, 2022): “The first time I have seen him, really impressed by his first game of the season.
“Looks such a physical specimen, looks good, adds real strength and power to Arsenal that they were lacking last season.”
Carragher added: “He has been a real rock at the back.”
Excellent Premier League debut
In our view, William Saliba was brilliant for Arsenal against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in London this evening.
The 21-year-old looked very mature at the back and was very composed on the ball.
Saliba was strong and dominating, and the France international centre-back kept the Palace attackers at bay.
Saliba did not have to do a great deal in the first half of the Premier League match.
Pressure mounted in the second period, but Saliba held his own at the back and showed Arsenal fans how much he has matured and developed over the past couple of years.
