Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has taken to social networking site Twitter to praise Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli for his performance for England on Sunday evening.

Alli featured for England in the 2018 World Cup Group F qualifier (European) against Slovakia away from home at Stadion Antona Malatinskeho in Trnava.

The Tottenham midfielder did not start the match, but the 20-year-old came on as a substitute in the 64th minute.

The former Milton Keynes Dons youngster played well and gave a good account of himself, as the Three Lions won the match 1-0.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher was following the game, and he was impressed with the performance of Alli.

However, the former England international has stated on Twitter that the Tottenham star should not be compared with Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney.

Rooney started the match for England against Slovakia and played for the entire 90 minutes.

Carragher has also praised Liverpool attacking midfielder Adam Lallana, who scored the winner for the Three Lions in the fifth minute of injury time.

Over the course of the 90 minutes in Trnava on Sunday evening, England had 64% of the possession, took 20 shots of which five were on target, and earned nine corners, according to BBC Sport.
