Jamie Carragher told CBS’s Champions League coverage (16/02/21 at 10:20 pm) that Liverpool ‘didn’t create an awful lot’ during their 2-0 win against RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Anfield great made it clear that he isn’t being critical of this Liverpool side, but the lack of chances created going forward is ‘still a problem’.
Whichever way this Liverpool win has come, it’s much needed and the clean sheet with it is a bonus given what those players have had to endure recently.
This is what Carragher had to say about Liverpool’s attack going forward and the chances they created against the German outfit last night.
“I saw a Liverpool performance today that I have seen in the last few weeks,” said Carragher. “Liverpool’s energy, the pressing has been there for a few weeks and it was there from the start.
“I am not trying to take anything away from that result. That’s a magnificent result. That team is just behind Munich in the Bundesliga and they did really well in the Champions League last season.
“But the actual goals scored were on the back of mistakes and they were clinical. They still didn’t create an awful lot in the game. Again, I am not being critical.
“But they haven’t created an awful lot. Then one mistake, the ball has gone into the opposition net, and that could have happened tonight even though they got away with it because of the goalkeeper at 0-0.
“For how well Liverpool played tonight, they still didn’t create an awful lot tonight themselves. For me, going forward that’s still a problem.”

This Liverpool win couldn’t have come at a better time because the Merseyside derby is around the corner for those in Red.
Whilst Everton will be preparing for a Premier League encounter against Manchester City, later on tonight, the warning signs have been set that Klopp’s men still have the hunger and fight in their game.
If Liverpool can complete the week with three points in the Premier League then it may just start their road to getting back near the top of the table.
