Jamie Carragher praised Curtis Jones during Sky Sports’ live coverage of Liverpool’s draw at Fulham on Sunday evening.
The TV commentator thinks that the Liverpool academy product was the ‘best player’ for his side, especially in the second half.
It was a difficult day at the office for those in red, with Jurgen Klopp’s men having to come from a goal down to secure a point against relegation-threatened Fulham.
The first-half was especially tough for Liverpool, but Carragher was pleased with how the club’s teenage superstar was taking ‘the fight’ to the opposition.
“He has been Liverpool’s best player, certainly in the second half,” said Carragher. “Great run [late in the second half].
“So often, he has taken the fight to Fulham. Making that run through the heart of them.”
Late in the second half, Jones picked up the ball from inside his own half and ran at the Fulham defence only to see his shot saved as he entered the penalty area.
Jones was perhaps Liverpool’s best player on the pitch, which is impressive from the youngster given how slow his team started and how he was one of the main guys to grab the game by the scruff of the neck.
But once again, Liverpool weren’t able to finish a match without one of their star players going off injured, as Joel Matip joined his centre-back partners in the treatment room.
Those on Merseyside will be hoping it’s nothing too serious because they’re injured XI is perhaps now stronger than their fully fit XI.
