Paul Ince told Sky Sports that he is ‘not sure’ about having Thiago Alcantara in his combined Liverpool and Manchester United XI.

The former England captain opted to select Paul Pogba in that number six role instead, alongside Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson.

Whilst Ince spoke about Pogba’s current form, he also referenced what he did at Juventus.

But later on in the clip, when Jamie Carragher selected Thiago because of what he did at Bayern, Ince felt that he cannot be picking someone for what he has done ‘elsewhere’.

However, the former Liverpool centre-back was quick to remind him of his Pogba comments in this brilliant exchange.

“I’m not too sure about Thiago,” said Ince. “One, he’s been unlucky with his injuries, two you are picking someone on what he has done elsewhere. This is the Premier League.

Carragher then interrupts Ince and reminds him that he was talking about Paul Pogba and his Juventus days when he put him in his combined XI:

“You have just been talking about Pogba at Juventus.”

Everyone then breaks into laughter and Ince responds by saying: “He has probably played more games than Thiago. Thiago is a fantastic player, but I am not sure you need two holding players, Jamie. That’s all I am saying.”

Well, both the above players will be looking to start today and hoping to make their mark in this top-of-the-table clash.

All in all, it sets to be a tight and typically cagey affair at Anfield today.
