Jamie Carragher has suggested on Sky Sports that Everton and West Ham United may well be more likely contenders for the top four than Liverpool after his old side lost again last night.
Liverpool were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea at Anfield yesterday, which leaves them sitting behind both Everton and West Ham in the Premier League table.
Crucially, Carlo Ancelotti’s and David Moyes’s sides both have a game in hand over the Reds.
And when asked about Liverpool’s top four chances, Carragher even admitted that Everton and West Ham’s form right now simply seems more encouraging than Jurgen Klopp’s side.
“I think it’ll be difficult for Liverpool. I think Chelsea look really impressive, when you look at the squad of Chelsea,” he said.
“I think they have a top squad and I think they’ll be difficult to stop.
“Whether Leicester come back to the pack [I’m not sure] but you look at teams like West Ham and Everton, and they’re in much better form than Liverpool right now.

“Liverpool win the odd game now and again and you think they’re back, but it’s just not happening.”
Very few people would have predicted that West Ham or Everton would be ahead of Liverpool at this stage of the season going into the campaign.
However, Klopp’s side form has gone from bad to worse and their players have begun to look hugely fatigued.
Injuries have hurt Liverpool, but even with their fitness problems – their results of late have been a huge surprise.
If Liverpool are to make the top four now there will have to be a huge up-turn in their results between now and the end of the season.
Everton, meanwhile, have momentum on their side, as they beat West Bromwich Albion last night to move even closer to the Champions League spots, and West Ham have also delivered some hugely encouraging performances of late.
