Jamie Carragher has claimed that Arsenal transfer target Leroy Sane has been the best performer in the UEFA Champions League this season.
The 2005 Champions League winner added that ‘no-touches’ the Bayern Munich star, in terms of performances after two matchdays of actions, including the German giants beating Barcelona 2-0 on Tuesday night, as he told CBS Sports (13/09/22 at 10:10 pm).
Sane scored against Xavi’s side in an action-packed encounter between the two European heavyweights, one week after his goal and assist during Bayern’s 2-0 win at Inter Milan.

In the summer, there was talk of Arsenal possibly signing the former Manchester City player and Mikel Arteta re-uniting with another player he coached at the Etihad.
It’s a pretty big jump for Arsenal to secure the talents of a player like that, but what’s even better for the Gooners is that this possible transfer could be re-visited.
Nonetheless, Carragher thinks Sane’s name isn’t put alongside the best in Europe, but he feels he has the quality to reach those levels now.
“Just on Sane, he’s not someone we talk about as one of the best players in Europe,” said Carragher.
“But, if you think of the first two Champions League matchdays, then there is probably no-one who can touch him, in terms of performances in the two games.
“I know Bayern Munich won the Champions League a couple of seasons ago. But you go back to it when they won it before that, and they won it at Wembley against Jurgen Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund.
“They had Ribery and Robben, he can get to that level can’t he if he adds consistency?!”

BAYERN’S FORMIDABLE FORWARD LINE
Just like for the past decade, Bayern should walk away with the Bundesliga title this season, although, they haven’t started the season like they would have liked.
Either way, they have a forward line worthy of causing any team in the world problems and a crop of players worthy of becoming champions of Europe.
Summer signing Sadio Mane has brought that fearless nature and experience to the squad, whilst Sane and former Arsenal man, Serge Gnabry, just continue to shine.
The pressure of Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery from the past might be too hot to handle for those who come after them, but Sane, Gnabry, and Jamal Musiala, to name a few, are proving that they are ready to fill those shoes.
