Jamie Carragher has claimed that Leeds United’s summer transfer target, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, is probably the ‘best player’ in Serie A right now for Napoli.

The former Premier League defender labelled Kvaratskhelia as a ‘hot talent’, as he continues to shine in Italy and produce the goods in the Champions League.

The 21-year-old was a big transfer talking point in the summer, with several clubs in England lurking for his signature, including Tottenham, Arsenal and Leeds.

But instead, he made the switch to Napoli, where he has made a mark already, including a Man of the Match performance during his side’s 4-1 win over Liverpool in the Champions League last week.

A player full of energy and a never-say-die attitude, Kvaratskhelia has only been in Naples for a matter of months, but he is already a fan favourite.

Given how much the winger’s stock is rising, Carragher also questioned how long the Italian giants can keep hold of him, as he told CBS Sports (14/09/22 at 7:40 pm).

“He was fantastic,” said Carragher. “We gave him a big build-up before the Liverpool game, to do what he did in a game of that magnitude.

“He has maybe been the best player in Serie A, certainly this season and he has proved it again. He looks like a hot talent and it will be interesting to see how long he will stay at Napoli.”

KVARATSKHELIA’S BRIGHT START TO LIFE IN ITALY

Napoli are sitting top of the Serie A table and they have won their opening two games in Europe, and it’s fair to say, Kvaratskhelia has played a big part in that.

The Georgian winger has scored four goals from his opening six matches, as Luciano Spalletti’s side remain unbeaten during the early stages of the season.

Could a title be headed towards Naples this season? Well, if Kvaratskhelia continues this current form, then they have every chance.

Whilst the Premier League has the bright lights and stupid amount of money, Serie A is one of the most underrated leagues, with several teams from Napoli, to Jose Mourinho’s Roma, the two Milan giants and struggling Juventus all vying for that all-important prize.
