Jamie Carragher has told the Daily Mail that he could see Brendan Rodgers joining Arsenal or Chelsea as his next move following Leicester City.

The Foxes are in action against Liverpool today, with Rodgers having a real opportunity to show Leicester’s title credentials with a big win at Anfield.

Leicester will go top of the league with a win, and given that Liverpool have a host of defensive absences right now, Rodgers may fancy his chances.

The 47-year-old has rebuilt his reputation since being sacked by Liverpool in 2016, firstly with Celtic and now with Leicester.

Rodgers guided the Foxes into the Europa League, and has now been praised by Carragher – a player he coached at Liverpool in the 2012-13 season.

Carragher believes that the Northern Irishman is the best British coach around, and predicts a move to Chelsea or Arsenal as his next job.

Carragher added that a move back to Liverpool is unlikely given his sacking just over four years ago, and doesn’t think Manchester United would take him either – but the England job is a possibility.

“Brendan Rodgers is the best British coach out there, no doubt,” said Carragher. “Maybe you could argue that the Liverpool job came too early but I think he did a good job, coming closer than any manager to winning the League in 30 years.”

“He’s a fantastic coach, he’s done a great job at Leicester and I think his next job could be a Chelsea or an Arsenal. Maybe it would be difficult to go back to Liverpool or to coach Manchester United, given the Liverpool connection, but I think he’ll be up for the top jobs in this country, maybe England too,” he added.

Arsenal and Chelsea both have former players in charge in Mikel Arteta and Frank Lampard, so it’s hard to see them making a change any time soon – but if they did, Rodgers would surely be near the top of the list.
