The former pundits debated Tottenham striker Harry Kane’s chances of beating the likes of Sergio Aguero to the award.

With the Premier League season looming large on the horizon, pundits and former footballers Jamie Carragher and Jamie Redknapp have had their say on who will win the golden boot on Sky Sports.
And they have plumped for last season’s top scorer, Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane, to come out on top yet again.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane wins the 2015/16 Barclays Golden Boot Award, scoring 25 goals.
“In the last couple of years it’s been between Kane and Aguero because they always play,” Carragher is quoted as saying on Sky Sports. “Aguero is as good as anyone, but he has too many injury problems. I will go for Kane, as long as he’s not taking corners.”
“I’ve gone with Harry Kane at 7/1,” ex Spurs man Redknapp added. “I lost my money on Aguero last year but I’ve learnt my lesson. It’s a difficult one because there’s always a Jamie Vardy or someone who comes through, but I think it’s between Aguero and Kane.”
Sergio Aguero celebrates scoring the second goal for Manchester City
Despite his hugely impressive exploits in front of goal over the last two seasons for the North Londoners, Kane’s struggles for England in the European Championships have once again led supporters and pundits to query whether the 23-year-old can replicate his form once more.
Quite aside from the fact that Kane certainly wasn’t the only Englishman to have a poor tournament this summer, it is surprising that critics are now prepared to label the Spurs star a two-season wonder, when one merely needs to watch a selection of his club matches over the last couple of campaigns to see the general footballing quality and goal scoring talent Kane possesses.
It is encouraging that both Redknapp and Carragher have faith in the Spurs man, considering the pair are both experienced and perceptive pundits. But Kane didn’t have it all his own way, fellow Sky pundits Gary Neville, Thierry Henry and Graeme Soutness all plumped for Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero ahead of the England international.
