McCarthy left Ipswich Town on Tuesday, while Pearson – who was Palmer’s captain at Sheffield Wednesday – is managing in Belgium.

Carlton Palmer is undecided about Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay, and is open to the Owls appointing Mick McCarthy or Nigel Pearson instead.
Luhukay replaced Carlos Carvalhal at Hillsborough in January, but has only won four out of 16 Championship fixtures.
An ongoing injury crisis has not helped the the Dutchman’s cause, although Tuesday’s 4-2 defeat against Queens Park Rangers – in which Wednesday found themselves 3-0 down within a quarter of an hour – has tested the patience of a number of Owls fans.

For their former midfielder Palmer, Wednesday’s players remain the primary cause of this season’s struggles. Although he would not be averse to another coaching change this summer.
The 52-year-old posted on Twitter overnight:
Asked whether Wednesday should stick with Luhukay – who led three teams to promotion from Germany’s equivalent division – Palmer replied:
McCarthy left his position as Ipswich Town manager immediately after Tuesday’s win against Barnsley – a month ahead of schedule.
The Yorkshirman – who led Ipswich to three top-half finishes (and one play-off qualification) in five seasons, excluding this one, on a limited budget – took exception to the Ipswich fans’ booing of one of his substitutions.

Palmer’s captain during Sheffield Wednesday’s early 1990s heyday, Pearson is managing OH Leuven in Belgium’s second tier.
