Leeds are likely to be busy this summer after taking a step backwards in their hunt for promotion.

Former Leeds United midfielder Carlton Palmer has told Proper Sport that owner Andrea Radrizzani cannot get involved with transfers – like his predecessor Massimo Cellino did.
Manager Paul Heckingbottom is likely to oversee a busy summer transfer window at Elland Road after Leeds’ pre-season hopes of a play-off place fell on deaf ears. They sit in 12th after just three wins in 21 games.
A number of 2017-18 signings have flopped, including the likes of Felix Wiedwald, Laurens De Bock and Pierre-Michel Lasogga with fans blaming director of football Victor Orta for his summer recruits.

Palmer, who played for Leeds for three years between 1994 and 1997, urged Radrizzani to stay clear when it comes to making transfers this summer, comparing him to Cellino who orchestrated transfers during his time at Elland Road.
“Hopefully, the chairman is allowing him this season to have a look at what he’s got and hopefully reshape the team,” Palmer said. “They’re going to struggle again next season with that squad of players, that is a fact.
“He’s got to move some players out, move some players in. I don’t know what this chairman is like, but I know the previous chairman wanted to be involved in everything – players’ matters, players being brought in, players being sold.
“That’s a problem for a manager, but if you’re a manager that signs under those terms then you have to live by them.”

Former owner Cellino took over Leeds in 2014 and in his first transfer window, the Italian brought in no less than 18 players including flops such as Tommaso Bianchi, Edgar Cani and Dario Del Fabro.
Leeds are next in action on Saturday as they face Norwich City at Carrow Road, before completing their campaign at Elland Road against Queens Park Rangers.
