Joe Powell extended his contract at West Ham.
West Ham talent Joe Powell earned a contract extension after an impressive season.
The club’s official website confirmed Powell’s renewal after he made good progress out on loan at Northampton Town in the second half of the season.
It is a decision which former West Ham striker Carlton Cole approves of, although he warned Powell that he has to work even harder now.
Powell, 20, was a regular for the under-23s in the first half of the season and hopes to try and make it into the first team.
Pre-season is going to be crucial to his chances, as it’s make or break time for the young midfielder.
West Ham clearly have some faith that Powell can reach the top, but with the club striving to push for a European spot next season, competition for places is going to be intense.
The Hammers finished in 10th place, with 15 wins from 28 and a minus three goal difference.
