West Ham United returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, as they got the better of Southampton 3-0 at home.

Both West Ham and Southampton are struggling for survival in the Premier League, and the match at the London Stadium this afternoon was a six-pointer.

The Saints were expected to make it tough for David Moyes’s side in London, but the home team found it quite comfortable in the end.

Marko Arnautovic was the star of the show for the Hammers, as the 28-year-old Austria international, who can operate as a forward or as a winger, scored twice for the Hammers.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon, hosts West Ham had 48% of the possession, took 13 shots of which five were on target, and earned five corners, according to BBC Sport.

The win against the Saints means that the Hammers are 14th in the Premier League table at the moment with 33 points from 31 matches, five points above the relegation zone.

Former West Ham striker Carlton Cole, who is a cult hero among the fans, has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to the win for the Hammers, and so has Danny Gabbidon, who played for the London club from 2005 until 2011.
