The Rangers manager Steven Gerrard sanctioned Pena’s Ibrox exit earlier this month.

Carlos Pena has been offered a short-term contract with one of Polan’s biggest clubs after leaving Rangers earlier this month, according to the Scottish Sun.
Pena’s Rangers contract was terminated by mutual consent after his loan spell in Mexico came to an end.
And the £2.2 million* Ibrox recruit looked to be heading to GKS Tychy until the Polish second-tier side reportedly failed to agree terms.
But it appears Pena is set to land on his feet with Wisla Krakow, who the Scottish Sun claim have handed him a deal until the end of the campaign.
Wisla ended last season’s Polish top flight in sixth position, but have been champions on 13 occasions and currently employ Jakub Blaszczykowski, the former Borussia Dortmund and Poland star, as captain.
Since Pena last played for Rangers, the Gers have signed Greg Docherty, Scott Arfield, Lassana Coulibaly, Steven Davis and Glen Kamara in the 28-year-old’s position.

Speaking via the Scottish Sun last week, Pena admitted: “At Rangers, it did not go the way I wanted, but I must look to move forward now,” the midfielder is quoted as saying.
“I have a new opportunity in Poland. I’m (almost) 29 now and I know this is my last chance to get back to the top of my game.
“I admit the mistakes I made at Rangers and back in Mexico, but I have learned from them.

“I believe I can return to the level I was at that saw me play for my country. I am in a good physical state, I am emotionally in a good place too and with work and dedication, I know I can get back to where I was. I feel I have matured as a person.
“In Poland, I already have a contract offer from GKS Tychy in their second division, but I now have offers too from clubs in their top division.”
