The midfielder failed to feature under the Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, at Ibrox.

Carlos Pena has finally broken his social media silence three weeks after leaving Rangers.
Pena’s Rangers contract was terminated at the start of February, barely 18 months into his Ibrox career.
By his own admission, the Mexican now looks set for a move to Polish football, having received offers from top flight clubs as well as second division GKS Tychy (Scottish Sun).
And although, at the time of writing, Pena remains without a club, his return to social media could signal an announcement is close.
Posting in English on both Twitter and Instagram earlier this evening, the 28-year-old wrote, cryptically: “Thanks to the people that believed in me”, followed by a trio of circles in Rangers’ traditional colours of blue, white and red.
Rangers paid £2.7 million to sign Pena from C.D. Guadalajara at the start of last season (Transfermarkt), but he only played 14 times for the Gers, scoring five goals, before returning to Mexico a year ago.
He was first loaned to Cruz Azul before Club Necaxa took over his registration last summer, although neither spell can be considered successful.

Is Pena one of Rangers’ biggest ever recruitment mistakes?
