Jordan Stevens joined Leeds United from Forest Green Rovers in the January transfer window and started against the Cardiff City Under-23 side on Friday.
Leeds United Under-23 manager Carlos Corberan has spoken highly of Jordan Stevens to Leeds Live.
Stevens joined Championship club Leeds from League Two outfit Forest Green Rovers in the January transfer window.
The signing of the youngster went under the radar, as the West Yorkshire outfit also recruited Laurens De Bock, Tyler Roberts and Adam Forshaw in January.
The 17-year-old midfielder made his first start for the Leeds Under-23 side against their Cardiff City counterparts at Thorp Arch on Friday.
Corberan was impressed with the performance of Stevens and has spoken highly of his talented and promising young midfielder.
“He was a very young player who was playing League Two at Forest Green, so i think he needed a little time to adapt but he is starting to show why he is at the club because he has great qualities with the ball,” Corberan told Leeds Live about Stevens.
“Now he has to adapt to the dynamic of the team, the identity and the style of the team, so sometimes he needs a little time and one day, a hundred per cent I’m sure that he’s going to make it as that person because he’s a very, very talented player and it’s very good for us because he can help us win games.”
Encouraging for Leeds United fans
Stevens is only 17 years of age, and it would be harsh to expect too much of the midfielder rightaway, although it must be said that Corberan’s comments about him are hugely encouraging.
Although Leeds have a history of producing talented and young players and giving them chances in the first team, it would be wise to be cautious over Stevens for the time being.
The teenager should be allowed to progress and develop at his own pace, and the fact that he is playing for the Under-23 side means that it is only a matter of time before he breaks into the first team.
