Leeds United are currently sitting in the automatic places in the Championship.
Carlos Carvalhal has warned Leeds United about the ‘very strange’ Championship following their thumping 4-0 win over West Brom last Friday.
The former Sheffield Wednesday boss stated that the competition is so ‘hard’ that you can go from beating your promotion rivals one week to losing to a so-called lesser side the next.
In their next two away fixtures, Marcelo Bielsa’s side will travel to play-off chasers Bristol City before taking on relegation-threatened Reading.
Speaking to Sky Sports Football (04/03/2019 at 7:20 pm), Carvalhal shared his thoughts on Leeds’ recent statement of intent but did warn them about the toughness of the second tier of English football.
“The result and the performance also because they win against a very good side,” Carvahal told Sky Sports Football. “When you win these kinds of game 4-0, of course, the motivation is more high and high.
“It will be hard. This competition is very strange so this is why it’s so difficult. It’s a marathon. Sometimes, it’s now a question of producing one very good result, it’s a question of your consistency.
“Sometimes a team can win 4-0 but after they can lose two games against the team from the bottom. This competition is like that.”
Leeds’ recent win was arguably their best performance of the season as they showcased their high intensity, high pressing and attacking qualities.
At this moment in time, they are sitting second in the table, two points behind current leaders Norwich and two points ahead of third-placed Sheffield United.
In 10 days time, Chris Wilder’s men will visit Elland Road in what is set to be one of the most crucial and game-changing matches of the campaign.
But until then, Bielsa will want to make sure his team don’t slip up away at Ashton Gate and against Reading, who are currently sitting one place above the relegation zone.
