Carlos Carvalhal will take on Sheffield Wednesday with Swansea in the FA Cup.
Swansea City’s 8-1 win over Notts County last night sealed their place in the FA Cup fifth round.
For manager Carlos Carvalhal it is particularly significant, as Swansea will now take on his former club Sheffield Wednesday.
He was fired by the Owls in December after a disappointing run of results, but he is proud of his efforts at Hillsborough.
Carvalhal said: “I feel it will be like going back home. It was my home for two-and-a-half years and I was very happy there.
“I don’t know if you know, but in our second season there we got more points than they had got in 50 years. It was the third highest record they’d had in 150 years.
“We got to the play-offs twice and that’s something very strong which means I am very connected with the club.”
Carvalhal’s Swansea reached the play-off final in 2016 but lost to Hull City 1-0 at Wembley.
He has been replaced by Dutch manager Jos Luhukay.
While Carvalhal has made an immediate impact at Swansea, Luhukay has struggled to turn results around.
The Owls have won their two FA Cup matches in the past month but in the league they have three draws and one defeat.
Carvalhal’s Swansea are now playing with real confidence and they will be heavy favourites for the clash later this month.
