Bruce was named Jos Luhukay’s replacement at Sheffield Wednesday earlier.

The former Sheffield Wednesday manager, Carlos Carvalhal, has sent his best wishes to Steve Bruce after the latter’s appointment as Jos Luhukay’s Hillsborough successor.
The pair were rivals for much of Carvalhal’s Wednesday tenure, during which time Bruce was employed by Aston Villa and Hull City – the side that defeated the Owls in the 2016 Championship play-off final.
But the Portuguese posted the following message on Twitter earlier:
Bruce also led Aston Villa to Wembley last season, but saw his side beaten by Fulham.
The 58-year-old was sacked by the Villans in October after a poor start to the new campaign.

And the former Villa striker turned pundit, Stan Collymore, has issued a warning to those of a Sheffield Wednesday persuasion.
He tweeted:
A prior commitment means Bruce will not officially start work until February 1, with his former Aston Villa colleagues Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence overseeing first team affairs meanwhile.
