Johan Djourou has been linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday in the summer transfer window.

Sheffield Wednesday have one of the best squads in the Championship and will be one of the favourites for the title this season

The Owls have finished in the top six for the past two seasons, and perhaps this campaign they will go all the way and end up winning the league title.

Manager Carlos Carvalhal has signed just one player so far in the summer transfer window – winger George Boyd on a free.

A number of players have left the Owls this summer, including Urby Emanuelson, Vincent Sasso and Filipe Melo.

Wednesday have some of the best players in the Championship, such as goalkeeper Keiren Westwood, defender Tom Lees, and forward Fernando Forestieri.

The Owls could do with a new defender, though, and they have been linked with Switzerland international Johan Djourou.

Swiss defender Johan Djourou looks on prior to a friendly football between Switzerland and Belarus at the Stadium Maladiere on June 1, 2017 in Neuchatel.

The Star has reported that Wednesday are in talks with the 30-year-old former Arsenal defender, who is a free agent at the moment following his departure from Hamburg at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

“I understand the question, but you know what I will answer,” Carvalhal told BBC Radio Sheffield when asked about Djourou. “I never talk about the players that don’t belong to our club. When we achieve a player, I will talk about (him).”
