Sheffield Wednesday’s Sam Hutchinson has just served a suspension, after accumulating five bookings already this season.
Carlos Carvalhal has told Sheffield Wednesday’s official website that he has no intention of curbing Sam Hutchinson’s aggression.
The central midfielder has already picked up five yellow cards this season, and sat out the Owls’ weekend match against Fulham.
However, Carvalhal does not want to restrict Hutchinson, and says that he is happy for the 26-year-old to continue racking up the yellow cards – providing they benefit the team.
“We can’t put the brakes on him,” the Portuguese manager said. “If we put the brakes on him, he would become a completely different player.
“If I said to him take care and don’t do the tackle, he probably would not play because he wouldn’t be the player we want. We want his full energy, pressing opponents and hard work. If he have the yellow cards it’s not a big problem because we need this kind of Sam.”
Hutchinson has been a key feature for Carvalhal’s team since arriving, and he has been tasked as being the destructive force in Wednesday’s midfield.
The Owls have a lot of attacking quality and it has been Hutchinson’s discipline that has allowed the forward players more freedom in which to roam.
As a result, he plays an important role for the side, and Carvalhal will be pleased to have him available for selection again after suspension.
Hutchinson could come back into Wednesday’s line up for their Capital One Cup clash with Newcastle United on Wednesday night, but Carvalhal has suggested to the Sheffield Star that he may utilise his fringe players in the tie.
