Sheffield Wednesday came from behind to claim a point against Cardiff City.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that his side were unusually open against Cardiff City at the weekend.

The Owls fell 2-0 down at the Cardiff City Stadium, and they had to adopt a very attacking style to try to get back into the match.

Wednesday did manage to pick up a 2-2 draw in the contest, but Carvalhal has suggested that his strategy in the game was a very risky one.

“It was an exciting finish and there were chances for both sides to score and win the game, but I think in the end a draw was the correct score,” he said.

“We are not normally that open and when we do that we know we are taking risks but we know we can score goals.”

Cardiff had 15 shots in their match against Wednesday – a total which only four teams have been able to better this season.

Wednesday started slowly in Wales, and they did not look like one of the form teams in the Championship in the first half.

Cardiff raced into a two-goal lead after scoring through Craig Noone and Anthony Pilkington.

However, Wednesday have been very tough to beat this season and they showed their strength of character again in the second 45 minutes.

Fernando Forestieri pulled a goal back for Carvalhal’s side before Barry Bannan completed the comeback in the 76th minute.

Wednesday’s draw has kept them within touching distance of the play-off places, and means they have lost just two of their last 17 outings in all competitions
