Carlos Carvalhal reportedly wants to take over at Celtic, though he has expressed an interest in their Scottish Premiership rivals Rangers previously.

Carlos Carvalhal has it heart set on taking over at Celtic this summer – and it is not the first time he has planned to coach one of the Old Firm giants.
Despite leading The Hoops to an eighth successive Scottish Premiership title last week, doubts remain about whether interim coach Neil Lennon will be handed the reigns on a permanent basis – particularly after Sunday’s dismal 2-0 defeat to Rangers.
And if Celtic decide to look elsewhere, Carvalhal might just come under consideration.
According to The Sun, the former Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday boss has told his agents to contact the Glasgow giants and he is ready to stake his claim to the club’s chiefs.
But would Celtic fans accept a man who has previously opened up about his interest in coaching their bitter rivals?
“I was very excited (about the prospect of managing Rangers),” Carvalhal told Jim White on talkSPORT (September 18, 10am) last year. He held talks with the Ibrox giants before instead being handed the manager’s job at Sheffield Wednesday.

“If I was there I am sure we could have done very good work. But they are in very good hands (with Gerrard).”
Carvalhal has had 17 different jobs in almost 20 years in management and Celtic might be put off by his lack of Champions League experience or a paucity of trophies on his CV. He has only won the Taca da Liga title with Setubal in 2008.
But the 53-year-old’s preference for free-flowing, attacking football could give The Hoops something to consider.
