The Sheffield Wednesday head coach has been discussing his plans for the January transfer window.
Sheffield Wednesday head coach Carlos Carvalhal has hinted via BBC Radio Sheffield that he is looking to add to his wide options in January.
However, the Portuguese has suggested that a new striker is unlikely to arrive at Hillsborough next month.
“We know Marco Matias is still out, we know that [Will] Buckley is out, we are with some problems in the wingers. But if we will do something we will do very [inaudible], try to improve the team and not just to add a new player,” Carvalhal told BBC Radio Sheffield.
Wednesday, who are sixth in the Championship, have been strongly linked with a move for Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes, but when asked whether or not he is looking to strengthen his forward line this winter, Carvalhal replied: “Even if we need or not we have the Financial Fair Play.
“You know how much is the cost of a striker in the Championship? £9m, £10m, £12m. I think it will be like this. Loan this kind of players? I don’t think anybody loans a striker in the Championship.

“To buy; spend £10m. If we buy a striker for £10m we will be with problems with Financial Fair Play. After this, give me a solution.”
It was not only incomings on the agenda, with Carvalhal also asked about the future of exiled Wednesday midfielder Lewis McGugan, who, along with defender Claude Dielna and striker Sergiu Bus, was placed on the transfer list in the summer.
The 51-year-old added: “I was a professional footballer of course and I don’t like these kind of situations. It is a situation that happens. But I must tell you it is not my fault. Because, with correct time, I say to all of them, I told them: ‘I hope for you to find a club’.

“I hope that they can try to find a club in January to play and to be happy.”
Wednesday were in a similar position this time last season, at which point they added then-Premier League pair Joe Bennett and Aiden McGeady on loan, while also trying up permanent deals for loan players Jack Hunt and Gary Hooper.
The Owls, who have won four and drawn one of six matches since the last international break, travel to league leaders Newcastle United on Boxing Day.
