The Owls grabbed their first away league win of the season at Ewood Park.
Sheffield Wednesday head coach Carlos Carvalhal told the BBC he tried out a new tactic against Blackburn Rovers.
The Owls picked up their first away league win of the campaign at Ewood Park on Tuesday, with Steven Fletcher’s 22nd-minute strike the difference.

Ironically, Rovers boss Owen Coyle – the man who brought Fletcher to English football in the first place – had previously admitted he had tried to sign the Scotland international on his release by Sunderland in the summer (Lancashire Telegraph).
Fletcher went close again before the break in one of several chances spurned by Wednesday, who would have been punished by their opponents but for the linesman’s flag.
According to Carvalhal, the Owls’ profligacy was down to a change in style, with more technical players Ross Wallace and Fernando Forestieri omitted from his starting line-up in favour of on-loan Sunderland winger Will Buckley, who was handed his first league start in Wednesday colours.

But the Portuguese expects Tuesday’s approach to bear fruit as the season goes on.
“Because we changed a little our style today, we have in the second half three or four situations in the counter attack with space and chances to do better,” he told the BBC afterwards.

“But it is not the way that we are (usually) playing, something new in the season and we are not adapted to play in fast attack, all these games we are playing in organised attack with ball possession.
“But I believe that in the future when we play like this we will do better.”
Wednesday climbed four places to seventh with the win, and are out of the play-offs on goal difference only.
