Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal wants Lucas Joao to get some more game time.

Carlos Carvalhal has confirmed to the Sheffield Star that he is expected Lucas Joao to leave Sheffield Wednesday before the end of the transfer window.

Joao was loaned out to Blackburn Rovers by Wednesday last season, and it seems that he did not do enough to convince Carvalhal that he merited a place at Hillsborough this term.

Joao is now set to leave Wednesday on loan before the end of the month, as Carvalhal looks to get the Portuguese forward more game time.

“Lucas knows what the situation is,” Carvalhal said.

“He’s a player that we expect to go to some club to play by the end of August.”

Wednesday have an abundance of striking options, which would be the envy of most Championship clubs.

And it seems that Carvalhal is happy to continue without the use of Joao this term.

There is unlikely to be a shortage of suitors for the 23-year-old now he has been made available, as he possesses an enviable skill set.

Joao has pace and power, but still needs to refine his talents, if he is to fulfil his potential.

During his loan spell at Blackburn last year, Joao scored three goals in 13 Championship appearances.
