Carlos Alcaraz is the top-ranked tennis player in the world, but retains an avid interest in sports outside his own.
Football is another sport of paramount importance to him, as a proud Spaniard and Real Murcia fan.
In fact, the 22-year-old was even pictured at a game for his local club recently, having been invited to do the ceremonial kick-off.
Naturally, national pride is high among stars from such a strong footballing nation. Alcaraz will have high hopes for Spain’s chances at this year’s FIFA World Cup.
And, asked about it, he offered his prediction.

Speaking on the Tennis Channel’s new Big T Podcast, Andrea Petkovic was afforded the golden chance to speak to the six-time Grand Slam champion.
And, after asking about what has been an outstanding season for the youngster, she then turned her attention to the football.
Asked to rate Spain’s likelihood of success in the upcoming World Cup later this year, which will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico, he admitted: “I’m excited. I’m excited to be honest.
“Yeah, I believe that Spain can do a really good result. Obviously, there are other nations that are one of the best, Argentina, the Netherlands, France, Germany.
“There are plenty of nations I am worried about, but I believe that Spain are going to be, you know, in the top and they are going to do a really good result. I believe in my team.”
Who will challenge Spain for the 2026 FIFA World Cup?
Whilst Spain will be considered one of the big favourites to take the title this summer, given that they are the remaining European champions, there are plenty who will seek to rival them.
Chief among them are Argentina, who will be seeking to defend their crown in what many are expecting to be Lionel Messi’s final World Cup for the national team.
Portugal find themselves in a similar position with Cristiano Ronaldo, and thus will have added incentive to push on.
Elsewhere in Europe, France remain a footballing powerhouse, whilst England continue to nurture a golden generation of talent with Tomas Tuchel at the reins.
Brazil, under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti, cannot be overlooked either, despite their patchy form.
