Carlos Alcaraz has reached the ATP Finals knockout stages after a win over Lorenzo Musetti in Turin.
The Spaniard remains unbeaten in the tournament, having already beaten Alex de Minaur and Taylor Fritz before his latest victory over Musetti.
Alcaraz replaced Jannik Sinner as world number one with that result, and will now face Felix Auger-Aliassime or Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals.
The Spaniard also achieved a remarkable feat in tennis, claiming two prestigious honours that are only attained by the sport’s elite.

Alcaraz’s rise to year-end world number one puts him in an exclusive group. He is the tenth man to hold the top ranking more than once and win six Grand Slam titles.
That list includes Jimmy Connors, Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl, Stefan Edberg, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
On top of that, he has also become the youngest player ever to do it.
Alcaraz has picked up six Grand Slams so far and finished as year-end world number one twice already in his career.
There is still something left for him to chase this season, too. The ATP Finals title is one thing he has not managed yet.
He has not lifted the year-end trophy in two attempts so far. His best showing came with a semi-final run back in 2022.

Alcaraz’s win over Musetti marked his 70th victory of 2025, the highest total he has reached in a single season.
According to OptaAce, the 22-year-old is also the youngest player to hit that mark since Djokovic did it back in 2009.
He joins Andy Murray and Jannik Sinner as just the third player in the past decade to reach that milestone, with Murray hitting it in 2016 and Sinner this year.
If Alcaraz goes on to lift the ATP Finals trophy for the first time, he will finish his season with an impressive tally of 72 wins.
