Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has told the Liverpool Echo that the club want to keep goalkeeper Robin Olsen on a permanent basis.
The Toffees were looking for a new goalkeeper over the summer in order to challenge Jordan Pickford, but they had to wait until deadline day to do it.
Everton pounced in the final hours of the transfer window to sign Olsen, landing him on loan from Roma until the end of the season.
Olsen, 30, spent last season on loan at Cagliari and brought experience having turned out for the likes of Malmo, PAOK, Copenhagen and Roma.
The Swedish international is also a huge presence at 6ft 5in tall, so he ticked all the boxes for Everton in their pursuit of a new stopper.
Olsen has been given two Premier League starts, with Ancelotti giving him a chance to play in place of Pickford on a couple of occasions.
Now, Ancelotti has admitted that Everton want to sign Olsen permanently, and it could happen as early as this month, or possibly at the end of the season.

Ancelotti suggested talks with Olsen’s agent will come soon, as he has played well when given a chance and been a positive influence on Pickford.
“Yes, I think we are pleased to have him here,” said Ancelotti. “He is a goalkeeper with experience so I think we are going to talk with him and his agent to find a solution for him to be here permanently. It can be for January or in June.”
“The games that he played he did well. He was comfortable, he was calm, he was quiet. I think he gives good support to Jordan (Pickford) also,” he added.
