The Italian is interested in coming back to the Premier League but Everton must wait to have a chance of getting their man.

Carlo Ancelotti has told Italian radio station Radio Anch’io lo Sport that he will not return to management this season.

As The Sun reports, the Italian has been linked with the Everton post following the sacking of Ronald Koeman.

Ancelotti left Bayern Munich in September and has said in his interview with Radio Anch’io lo Sport that he is not looking for a new club until his contract with the German champions expires in June.

However, the former Paris Saint-Germain boss did namecheck Everton when referring to possible future destinations, while seeming to play down a return to Chelsea as a replacement for his friend Antonio Conte.

“I am looking for new opportunities but not from now. My contract with Bayern expires at the end of the season and that’s when I’ll start listening to new offers,” he is quoted as telling Radio Anch’io lo Sport.

“I want a serious project that can give me time and serenity even though I know it’s not easy. I am just waiting something will come.”

“Premier League is a very interesting league of course. The atmosphere is amazing there even if Bundesliga stadiums are also great. I don’t know where I could end up, Italy is a solution as well. Every days there are new speculations about my future. Croatia, China, Everton, Chelsea. Don’t make my friend Antonio [Conte] upset, I always talk to him.”

Ancelotti would be an appointment that would match the ambition of Everton’s summer spending, if they were prepared to hold out for him until next summer.

David Unsworth is currently in caretaker charge, but the manner of Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester City may harm his chances of getting the job until the end of the season.

Everton’s owners must decide whether the struggling team needs more experienced management now, or whether to play a risky waiting game for Ancelotti’s in-demand services.
