According to Sky Sports, Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti is interested in signing Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that the Toffees have made a bid of £18 million for the 23-year-old left-back, who spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Betis from Spanish and European giants Madrid.

Ancelotti reportedly wants a new left-back this summer as competition for Lucas Digne, with Leighton Baines having retired.

Stats

According to WhoScored, Reguilon made 29 starts and two substitute appearances in La Liga for Betis this past season, scoring two goals and providing four assists in the process.

The 23-year-old left-back also played twice in the Europa League for the Andalucian outfit this campaign, according to WhoScored.

Good signing for Everton?

Everton do need to sign a left-back, and Reguilon does fit the bill, with the Spaniard very good defensively as well going on the attack.

In February 2019, the youngster told AS that Madrid and Brazil legend Roberto Carlos has been his “idol” even since he was a little boy.

It is going to be extremely hard for Reguilon – or anyone else for that matter – to follow in the footsteps of Carlos, but it is very encouraging that the 23-year-old has such high standards.
