Carlo Ancelotti labelled rumoured Tottenham target Luka Modric as ‘extraordinary’ following his recent performance for Real Madrid, as he told his press conference.

Even at the age of 36, the former Ballon d’Or winner is pulling strings in the middle of the park as he helped Real beat arch-rivals Atletico 2-0 over the weekend.

Tottenham fans saw the best of Modric during his time in the Premier League and they are well aware of his capabilities, even though is coming towards the end of his trophy-laden career.

There are rumours circulating that Spurs want to bring him back to the club for one last dance, along with a number of other Premier League sides, such as the big pockets of Newcastle and title-winners, Manchester City, as reported by SuperDeporte.

It remains to be seen where Modric will end up, but until then, Ancelotti is enjoying the performances he is displaying in La Liga.

“Modric, Modric, Modric,” said Ancelotti. “Modric is extraordinary, what else can I say? I hugged him and congratulated him because his game was extraordinary.”

That ability to control a game, take one touch, whilst others need two, provide that Hollywood pass and connect the defence and attack will never leave the footballing locker of Modric’s.

But on top of that, he is showcasing a work rate that Antonio Conte would be proud and he displayed that during the Madrid derby from the weekend.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Modric leaves in the summer because Sergio Ramos also left when his contract expired.

But Tottenham might find themselves losing to a team either fighting for the title or in the Champions League, especially if they don’t finish in the top four themselves.

Although, that Conte pull is still there and Spurs fans will always be hopeful that he can return to their colours one day.
