Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has joked about his rather unsuccessful spell at Everton.
During the COVID-19 affected season of 2020-21, Carlo Ancelotti was manager of Everton with the Italian tasked with turning the fortunes of the club around after years of struggle.
The Italian has just won his fifth Champions League trophy of his career after he masterminded a 2-0 victory for Real Madrid against Borussia Dortmund.
Ancelotti has been one of the best managers in the 21st century but the Italian struggled to get a tune out of a struggling Everton squad during the COVID affected season.

Ancelotti on Everton
Speaking to Spanish outlet La Vos De Galicia it appears the Italian does not have fond memories of Merseyside.
“Real is Real, what could be better? Here there is a respect for history, all the footballers of the past are present in the photographs of the Ciudad Deportiva,” he said.
“I maintain the passion, this is how I live the game, my work, I have always carried this balance with me.
“I have overcome moments that are not always positive, after my experience with Everton I was off the radar, they thought I was old. In Naples the same thing.”
The move to Goodison Park came as something of a shock at the time, with the Blues putting their money where their mouth was to secure Ancelotti to lead the bold, bright future Farhad Moshiri had dreamed up.
However, the move did not work out with the club remaining in mid table before the Italian was replaced by Rafa Benitez who also struggled.
Ancelotti’s success
Away from Everton, Ancelotti has had huge success during his career but it is his stint at Goodison Park which will go down as his least successful.
It looked like Ancelotti’s spell in Madrid was coming to an end with Brazil a mooted destination but the Italian has decided to remain in the Spanish capital.
With Madrid winning yet another European trophy, the Spanish side remain the biggest club in the world and with Ancelotti at the helm, they have one of the best managers in the world.
