Carl Starfelt has already undergone a medical and is now waiting on paperwork to complete a move to Celtic, according to The Daily Record.

What’s the story?

It has been reported that the Rubin Kazan defender has agreed a long-term deal with Celtic.

The 26-year-old centre-back underwent a medical in Moscow last week.

Former Scottish Premiership champions Celtic have agreed a £4.5 million deal with Russian club Kazan over the Sweden international.

The defender is now waiting for his work visa and will then see when he can travel to the UK due to coronavirus restrictions.

Would Carl Starfelt make Celtic better?

Starfelt is a very good central defender who is about to hit his peak.

There is every possibility that the Sweden international centre-back will be able to make an immediate impact at the Hoops.

Kristoffer Ajer is reportedly on his way to Brentford, and Starfelt will just replace the Norway international in the team.

The Swede scored three goals in 29 Russian Premier League games last season, and played 10 times in the league in 2019-20.

Celtic will be determined to reclaim the Scottish Premiership title from bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers next season.
