Jenkinson was thrilled to be back alongside his teammates, and posted an emotional message on Instagram yesterday evening for supporters to read.
He said: “Felt so good to be back out there today. I’ve never been so grateful to just lace up my boots and go and play football.
“It’s a very humbling experience being out injured for such a long period of time, and I will never take the simple privilege of being able to play football for granted again.
“I hope this is the start of a new and exciting chapter in my career, and I would like to thank you all for your support and concern during my recovery.”
Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson celebrates scoring his sides second goal
Jenkinson signed for Arsenal in 2011 from Charlton Athletic, and has gone on to play for the first team and even represent England.
Hector Bellerin’s emergence led to him being loaned out last season, with Mathieu Debuchy also available to play at right-back.
Jenkinson won’t be featuring in the Arsenal squad for their Champions League clash against Basel tonight, but his long journey back has passed another milestone.
