The Wolves legend, who drew the balls for the FA Cup fourth round on Monday night, spoke about his hopes for the club in 2018-19.
Wolverhampton Wanderers icon Carl Ikeme says he would love the club to go on a good run in the FA Cup and get to Wembley Stadium.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s charges beat Liverpool, arguably one of the favourites to go all the way, in Monday night’s third-round encounter at Molineux.
The hosts opened the scoring through Raul Jimenez, who made the most of an error by Reds midfielder James Milner to slot beyond Simon Mignolet.
Divock Origi levelled for the visitors six minutes after the break but Ruben Neves edged his side ahead not long after thanks to a ferocious long-range effort.
Wolves held out until the final whistle to secure a 2-1 victory and knock Jurgen Klopp’s side out of the competition.
Former Wolves goalkeeper Ikeme has experience of an FA Cup run with the West Midlanders, having got to the fifth round of the competition in 2017.
Speaking to the official club site, he stressed Wanderers couldn’t be looking too far ahead and potentially getting ahead of themselves but nonetheless dreamed of a semi-final place at least.
“It was a really good game, I thought Wolves thoroughly deserved the result,” Ikeme said of the win over Liverpool. “Hopefully we can go on a cup run again, we had one in recent years and hopefully we can take it a bit further.
“I don’t want to look too far ahead but a trip to Wembley would be nice, we’re looking forward to the next round and hopefully we’ll get through.”
Up next for Wolves is a trip to either Shrewsbury Town or Stoke City in the fourth round, a draw which Ikeme made on Monday night as he drew the balls for the next stage of the competition.
