Rangers lost 2-1 away at Dundee this afternoon in a disappointing performance.

Rangers caretaker manager Graeme Murty has been quoted by The Scottish Sun as saying that the performance in this afternoon’s 2-1 defeat at Dundee was ‘not acceptable’.
The Gers were playing their second game of the post-Mark Warburton era, and after beating Morton 2-1 in the Scottish Cup last weekend, they were hoping to make it two wins from two under Murty.
However, Rangers served up a disappointing performance at Dens Park, with Henrik Ojamaa setting up Mark O’Hara for an early opener, before Kevin Holt made it 2-0 just shy of half time.
Rangers did hit back on 62 minutes, as Joe Garner smashed a shot into the bottom corner of the net, but the Gers couldn’t get back on level terms and slipped to defeat at Dens Park.
The defeat means that Rangers have slipped six points behind Aberdeen in the race for second place, with the club in turmoil right now.
Warburton’s exit hasn’t boosted fortunes for Rangers, and with confusion ongoing over whether Murty will be in charge for the rest of the season or a new manager will be appointed, the Gers are in trouble right now.
After the final whistle, caretaker boss Murty spoke to The Scottish Sun about the defeat, and ripped into his players, claiming their performance against Dundee was ‘not acceptable’.
Graeme Murty
Murty added that the disruption at Ibrox is no excuse, as the players were fully prepared for the game, and he admitted he has been ‘honest’ with his players by criticising their performance.
“We have to be better than that and it’s not acceptable,” said Murty. “We know that and they know that and we’ll take this on the chin. The disruption at the club has got nothing to do with players showing the right attitude and commitment. They were fully prepared, they knew what it meant, that they would have a battle and have to more than match them.”
“But I’ve been honest and told them they didn’t do that for 45 minutes. There are more than enough characters in the squad to turn it around. We just need them to come to the fore, grab the game by the scruff of the neck and change the manner of things. But there’s no doubt that wasn’t acceptable,” he added.
