One of the major talking points in the Premier League game between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this past weekend was the dismissal of Curtis Jones.

Tottenham Hotspur got the better of Liverpool 2-1 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League this past Saturday.

An own goal from Joel Matip in the final moments of the game saw Spurs pick up all three points from the match.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur VAR controversy

It was a hugely controversial game.

Liverpool had a perfectly legitimate goal from Luis Diaz not given amid VAR miscommunication issues.

Jones, 22, was given a straight red card after catching Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma with his studs after a mistimed challenge.

After a VAR review, the Liverpool midfielder was shown the red card.

Liverpool will appeal against the red card.

Former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher gave his take on the incident on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports Football.

Carragher did not like that the referee was shown a slowed-down replay.

The pundit wanted on-field referee Simon Hooper to watch a real-time replay and then make his decision.

Former Tottenham Hotspur player Micky Hazard has given his take on the incident on X.

As you can see below, Hazard believes that the challenge could have really hurt Bissouma and thinks that it was the right decision to send off the 22-year-old Liverpool midfielder.
