West Bromwich Albion striker Rickie Lambert is poised to join Cardiff City on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Lambert joined West Brom last summer from Liverpool but he struggled to establish himself at the Hawthorns.
The England international made just five starts and scored a solitary goal for the Baggies last season.
The 34-year-old has found himself out of favour at West Brom with Tony Pulis preferring to play Salomon Rondon in a lone striker role.
Lambert has made one brief cameo appearance off the bench in the Premier League so far this season, with his only start coming in the EFL Cup defeat to Northampton Town.
Lambert is understood to have asked the club to move on this summer as he looks to get his career back on track.
A number of clubs have been monitoring Lambert’s situation at West Brom and Cardiff have moved to lure the former Southampton man to the Welsh capital.
Cardiff have struggled for goals so far this season in the Championship and Bluebirds boss Paul Trollope will hope Lambert will recapture the form that made him one of the best strikers in the country during his time at Southampton.
