The Cardiff City goalkeeper is well-known to the Aston Villa management team.

Some Cardiff City supporters think the Bluebirds should sell Neil Etheridge to Aston Villa.
The Express & Star reports that Aston Villa are considering an improved offer for Etheridge, after seeing an £8 million approach rejected by Cardiff.
The Philippino goalkeeper was one of the Welsh club’s stand-out performers in what was his maiden Premier League campaign, but another season of Championship football awaits if he stays where he is.
And with their side set to make a significant profit on a player they signed for free two years ago, while also having a ready-made replacement on board in the shape of Alex Smithies, the following Cardiff fans wouldn’t begrudge Etheridge a move.
Joining Aston Villa would see Etheridge reunited with the manager, Dean Smith, and goalkeeper coach, Neil Cutler, he worked with at Walsall.
The 29-year-old previously credited Cutler with “taking his game to another level”.

Aston Villa have no shortage of options in Etheridge’s position, with Jed Steer, Lovre Kalinic and Orjan Nyland sharing responsibilities last season.
