Cardiff City have accepted an offer of £5 million from Hull City for their number one goalkeeper David Marshall.

According to Sky Sports, Cardiff will allow the Bluebirds keeper to leave Cardiff and join the Premier League side after seven years at the club.

Rumours were circulating that Marshall could be leaving the Welsh side after the Bluebirds today confirmed the season-long loan signing of former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Amos.

Marshall has experience playing in the Premier League during the one season Cardiff were in the top flight in 2013-2014. During the Scottish international’s short time at the top, the goalkeeper was impressive and attracted attention from other clubs.

Speculation over the player’s future at Cardiff has always been a talking point during transfer windows, with rumours of interest from several clubs. The Bluebirds have always managed to keep hold of their keeper until now.

The news will come as a blow to fans as Marshall is highly regarded at the club. The 31-year old has made more than 280 appearances since arriving from Norwich City in 2009.

Marshall’s departure will have a big impact at the club and manager Paul Trollope will be hoping that new keeper Amos will be able to step up to the mark.
