Former Manchester United full-back Fabio has joined Middlesbrough for £2 million.
Fabio celebrates scoring for Cardiff
Cardiff City lost a fan favourite on Friday as full-back Fabio da Silva joined newly-promoted Middlesbrough in a £2 million deal.
The 26-year-old Brazilian had been with Cardiff City since leaving Old Trafford in January 2014.
Fabio had missed the Bluebirds’ opening-day fixture with Birmingham due to speculation that he would be leaving the Welsh capital.
With the move now confirmed, Fabio has taken to social media to express his personal thanks to supporters.
The popular defender has been met with a flood of positive tributes from Cardiff fans who are clearly sad to see him go.
Middlesbrough fans have also been quick to welcome the wing-back.
Fabio, full name Fabio Pereira da Silva, signed for Manchester United as a teenager and spent six years playing at Old Trafford, making 22 league appearances.
During his two years at the Cardiff City Stadium, he cemented his position in the first team and made 64 league appearances in total.
Boro fans will be keen to see their new man in action, and will hope that he can put in some of the performances that made him so popular a figure with Cardiff.
