Neil Warnock has today completed his third signing in two days with Marouane Chamakh joining the club on a free, as confirmed by the club’s official website. The 32-year-old joins on a short-term deal which will expectedly run until January.

Chamakh worked with Neil Warnock during his spell at Crystal Palace which ended when he was released by the club at the end of last season.

The Moroccan international completed a trial with West Brom earlier in the season but didn’t manage to secure a contract offer from the club.

The former Arsenal forward scored seven league goals in 59 league appearances for Crystal Palace and has a record of 18 goals in 65 outings for his national team.

Chamakh joins Sol Bamba and Junior Hoilett who also made moves to the Welsh capital across today and yesterday. The Bluebirds are also reportedly interested in bringing Keiran Richardson to the club.

Speaking to Cardiff City’s official website, Chamakh said: “I’m so happy to be here and work with the Manager again. I worked for him (Neil Warnock) at Crystal Palace before and I’m happy and proud to work with him here at Cardiff City FC.

“Cardiff are a side that should be on top and I think we can improve going forward. I’m looking forward to meeting with my new team-mates and getting started. I can’t wait to score for my new team.”

All three of the Bluebirds’ new signings are expected to be in contention to make their debuts when Cardiff face Severnside rivals Bristol City on Friday evening. The fixture will be broadcast live on Sky Sports and will also be Neil Warnock’s first game in-charge.
